The Sensory-Spatial Profile Card has been designed with neurodivergent children in mind, with the intention that the document be completed by family, caregivers and/or an individual from the child’s support team who has understanding, familiarity and knowledge of the child’s sensory needs. Once completed the child’s Sensory-Spatial Profile Card can be given to individual’s within the child’s support team, educators, school support staff, friends and family so that they may have access to information about your child and how best to support them as they engage in their everyday environments.

The Sensory-Spatial Profile Card seeks to identify your child’s strengths and interests, the things that regulate and dysregulate your child, the environments and relationships that your child thrives in—and those that they might find challenging—as well as identifying environmental accommodations and sensory-sensory strategies. The profile card seeks to empower your child to best support themselves in the different environments they engage in throughout a typical day.

"I created a template that explores the spatial, social and sensory aspects of the environments around neurodivergent children deliberately focusing in on the specific needs, differences and preferences of each child who fills out their profile card. This was not about creating broad, overarching statements about neurodivergent children, rather it seeks to recognises the child as a whole being placing their strengths, their lived experiences of the spaces and places around them and the environments they thrive in at the centre of the profile card.

It is my favourite project because I first designed it for my children to help capture all the important things I wanted others to know about them and my hope is that it helps other families to focus on all the beautiful and incredible things about their neurodivergent child(ren)."
